This is a comment on "Crazy Myth #4: Posting Listings is too hard, time consuming and pointless".

Hello there Justin, I have been agonizing over the very same problem. First of all, we want our listings on Localism. Yes, we do.

I placed a bunch (35+) listings one day and had a real wake up call! I spoke to Bob Stewart that informed me each one was considered a blog. I didn't consider it a blog. I considered it a listing and expected for them to be categorized as such. No such luck. I ended up with 0 points for any over 10 (I had already blogged a few) and the rest were 0's.

I explained to him that the points really were not the important part for me (a little) but the advertising was way (WAY) important. I then realized that after the posting of the home listings (which I must sell) that's all the other commenter's would be seeing when they went to my profile. DEVASTATION! I couldn't delete them. It wouldn't let me. It showed 35+ more blogs than I had actually written and all anyone would see were listings!!! I got 2 courteous comments. Like they would care!!! But, thank you all anyway for the effort.

This is not helping my cause on Active Rain but....Google put an entire page of my listings together and featured it on the second page of the Search Engine's main page of my top key word search. Now, unfortunately I am borderline "computer challenged". What I have learned is SIMPLY because the starving must eat.

What is a wordpress? Can I use it on my 5 year old laptop? What would I need to make that function? What is the best software to blog successfully? My number one goal is to create good marketing materials. The second is the communication with other Professional Realtors and Associates.

I have attempted to kick out "quality blogs" much quicker than I would have so any interested party would find the real me and not just the listings...you can see all the listings at Deb's Blogs.

I want the best of both! I don't know HTML but am willing to learn. Any suggestions? Help!!!!!!!! Smile, thanks for listening to me vent. I'm going ahead and publishing this, Justin. We all need to know. Thanks, Deb

Don't be mad. I was only about 6 years old. Someone at my school told me that I didn't have to write Christ into the phrase Merry Christmas! They said, "you can save time by writing Merry XMas!" and at age 6, I didn't put 2 and 2 together. With the slap of his hand across my pants and a terribly disappointed look on his face, my dad taught me the reason to take the time to write Christ. Oh, I knew the Christmas story and the entire biblical history. But, when you're 6, things don't always make sense. After my father kneeled at my side and with tears in his eyes, shared with my little 6 year old psyche the true story of the birth of Christ, I cried. I'm sorry daddy. I will never let Christ out of Christmas again. I, today, will never let Christ out of Christmas.

Localism Colloquialisms-Huh?

JUST FOR FUN!! 

Click for the definition of colloquialism. I just never get enough of the Texas slang! Slang that is used locally can also be called an idiom. It becomes almost its own language. I know I've missed a passel of 'um so if you would contribute I would appreciate it! Add to the Texas sayings but let's start a collection of other states and areas! I have attempted to place my own opinion of the definition of these sayings. They may mean something else for someone else.

Not the sharpest pencil on the desk...not runnin' on all four cylinders...few sandwiches short of a picnic!...

Dumb as a fence post!...the lights are on but no body's home...Em are all six one way and half dozen thother.

City Titties...you know those bumps they use to keep you from trying to change lanes?

I had better sign off before this gets to be dead as a doornail...flat, boring dead.

Off To Iraq And Back To War....Please send your wishes!

Audrey and DannyToday, November 8, 2007, Daniel Scott Brooks shipped out to Iraq!

Some of us find it easy enough to place the war and the turbulence of Iraq in the far reaching spaces of our minds and cognisance.

The news we read and hear on a day to day basis simply becomes the "norm". I find myself becoming hardened to the news reports and I try to look the other way.

Today the war hits close to home. From what I understand if you must be deployed to Iraq, The Green Zone is the place to be. Somehow, I'm not that comforted.

What is the Green Zone anyway?

The Green Zone, aka Emerald City, or The International Zone seems to have taken on an American personality of sorts. It's located in the heart of Baghdad and consists of 4 square miles of a compound (city) previously owned and occupied by the infamous Saddam Hussein and sons.

The US claimed the compound by force in April, 2003. With great loss of Iraqi lives and the damage and destruction of many existing buildings, the military take-over was successful. Saddam was dethroned.

The Green Zone has experienced many volatile changes over the course of its American History. It may be safer than the alternative zone called the Red Zone where the loss of life is a daily routine but somehow I am not that comforted. 

The Green Zone is enclosed with tall solid concrete walls yet it is not unheard of to have mortar shells and hand grenades aimed to overshoot the walls of the compound. Car bombs have found their way to the inside and our military men are armed and on guard with their AK-47s and heavy armaments. 

Although Danny spent his first tour of duty as a Chaplain's Assistant in Kuwait he has been reassigned. He will be distributing arms.

Because this area has become a United States Embassy and a melting pot of dignitaries and representatives of Britain, Iraqis, private contractors and others, the wall of military is fierce.

I must admit that have mixed feelings about this tour of duty. At this point I must silence myself of personal and political opinions. Even though I don't necessarily agree with our government and their reasoning of war, I vow never to forget our military troops that are standing behind the belief that "America the Free" is worth risking their lives.
